Adam Strasberg’s career is an attempt to answer the question: Are creatives born or made? The son of acting teachers Lee Strasberg and Anna Strasberg, he was raised in the world of actors, theatre and books -- lots of books.
Since 2002, Adam has brought his unique blend of creativity, practicality, and political experience to an array of clients at his firm Bright Idea Creative.
Over the years, Adam has directed shoots and produced videos for political campaigns across the country and overseas. He has extensive experience interviewing both political candidates & regular people alike.
He has brought his combination of creative talent and political media experience to his work with political clients like the Kerry for President campaign; campaigns for Senate including Reed, Lautenberg, Dayton, Nelson and Sanders; DSCC races in New Hampshire and Colorado; corporate clients such as US Telecom Association; labor clients such as SEIU and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association; and non-profit clients, such as the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and the ONE Campaign.
He didn’t start out pursuing a creative path. More interested in football and science fiction growing up than theatre and art, he graduated from Brown University, and wandered into politics working in the press operation of Geraldine Ferraro’s 1992 senate campaign before moving to Washington, DC to pursue politics as a career.
In Washington, Adam searched for meaning in his work before a friend and mentor suggested he should try film production. Shortly thereafter, he convinced Shrum, Devine, Donilon -- one of the top Democratic political consultants, to create a production coordinator position and hire him to fill it.
Feeling unsatisfied living in the strictly political world of Washington, DC, Adam embraced his creative side (and made his mom very happy) and attended NYU Graduate Film School, where he had the chance to make short films and received an MFA.
Returning to life in Washington, DC, he has been able to bring a rare creative eye to the world of politics. In 2000, he led the Shrum, Devine, Donilon production team that helped the firm win 14 of 16 races and earn the title “political consultant of the year,” from The National Journal.
In 2001, after returning from his honeymoon in Italy, Adam was given the honor of directing the historic commercial that paired President Clinton and Senator Dole in an appeal to raise money for a scholarship fund for the families of victims of 9/11. After 3 more years at Shrum, Devine Donilon, Adam started his firm, Bright Idea Creative.
Adam lives around the corner from the historic Ben’s Chilli Bowl in the heart of Washington, DC with his wife Nora O’Connell, and their two energetic children Owen & Asher. He still misses real New York bagels and mourns the day Hunan Park on Columbus Avenue closed.

Owen & Asher: Born Creatives? Mom and Dad think so.
