More from West Viginia

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L8TJOzWTcU&feature=player_embedded] It's a nice idea to counter the problems John Raese has run into by trying to hire actors to play West Virginians.

Too bad the ad looks like something produced in 1985.  From the bad backdrop to the flame wipes to the stilted read off the teleprompter. It's a wasted opportunity to hit back, when you produce something that is so obviously inferior quality.  Third party validators are great, but if the production quality is not up to par, it effects how the ad is perceived.

A Democratic Dreaming...

It is the dream of every Democratic political consultant to have a candidate who can carry a gun in an ad. [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIJORBRpOPM&feature=player_embedded]

I guess this is living the dream, not only do you get your candidate carrying the gun he gets to fire it at an unpopular bill.  Perfect.  Frankly other than the gun, the ad is pretty standard fair. Manchin trying to be a stand up independent guy in a year voters hate Washington in general, and Democrats in particular.  I guess barn jackets are the new blue jean shirt.

Is it effective? Well it does say he was endorsed by the NRA, which I bet carries some weight in West Virginia, and he does pretty clearly and in an over the top way, say he's against cap and trade which his opponent is using against him. So I guess in that way the ad checks the boxes but really isn't particularly impressive otherwise.  Just another forgotten dream.
